Sisi and Macron: Israeli escalation in Rafah leads to a disaster

Cairo: Cairopost, News Desk

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and French President Emmanuel Macron stressed the danger of any military escalation in Rafah, given its catastrophic humanitarian repercussions on about one and a half million Palestinians in this region. The two presidents also warned of the danger of expanding the conflict at the regional level and hence the necessity of quickly advancing ceasefire and regional calm efforts.

This happened during a phone call made by the French President. Counselor Dr. Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of Egypt, said that the call dealt with the ongoing efforts aimed at a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the exchange of detainees, and the implementation of humanitarian aid, as the two presidents reviewed the latest developments in this regard.

The two presidents called for the cooperation of the concerned parties to ensure progress that leads to stop bloodshed and alleviation of the current human suffering in the Gaza Strip, in addition to advancing the path of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, as it is the only path capable of achieving real security and sustainable stability in the region.

During the call, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s categorical position of rejecting the displacement of Palestinians to Egypt in any form or form, a position that enjoys full international consensus. For his part, the French President affirmed France’s full support for Egypt’s position.
